Cancelling Denver and Dallas

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Well, the summer begins, and for us it's actually the end of con season until September. Unfortunately, due to a back injury, we're going to have to cancel our next few con trips, so Dallas Fan Expo and Denver Comicon are out of our rotation this year. It's a huge bummer but Danielle really needs some time to heal and with all the other cons and family trips we've taken this year she definitely needs a break anyway.

Anyway, we're still on for Rose City in September, but in the mean time we're going to be taking a little hiatus from ... read more

Temporary Hiatus

Monday, October 20, 2014

Hey everyone! Hope things are going well with you. So, here's some kinda not great news: we're going to be taking a hiatus from updating our webcomics until after Jet City Con, returning on Nov 10. The short explanation is medical reasons. The long one is that Danielle has been struggling with back problems for the last... many years, and is having another flare-up that seems to be different. Because it's lower back pain, it makes it hard to sit in the same position for the hours it takes for her to draw pages. We're hoping this will resolve itself, ... read more

New Site Launched

Monday, September 1, 2014

As you can see, we have launched our new experience! It is now easier than ever to seee the content we've created on various different websites. Starting this week, you'll begin to see weekly updates of all three comics, including the newly Odd19-branded Meticulous Failure, our previous webcomic Limited Immunity, and our newly webcomic-formatted Sin of Omniscience.

Coming soon, we'll be launching a variety of campaigns for you to donate money if you find value in what we do. We'll do our best to avoid advertising, but for now we're using a nice low-cost hosting solution so we ... read more

Odd19 Goes Digital

Wednesday, August 20, 2014

We're a pretty new company, and honestly this is our first attempt to self-publish, so we've learned a lot of things along the way. We've changed our creative process multiple times to make things faster without sacrificing quality. We've tried hiring contractors for steps of the creative process. We've changed vendors to get higher quality books in a faster timeframe. We've begun selling our books through digital channels.

And most recently, we've discovered a few things.

  1. We get most of our high sales (total volume * cost) at conventions. This makes sense, because you're selling to an audience that's already interested in ... read more

Creativity - The Best and Worst Thing Ever

Thursday, July 31, 2014

In an attempt to be as scientific as possible about one of the least scientific, infuriatingly dumb parts of my daily life, I'm going to present a pretty bogus, biased, and untested theory.

The Two Axes of Creativity

Anyone who's ever had to write a report, or draw a picture for art class, or do anything vaguely creative has realized two things. They either wanted to do the thing or didn't, and they were either good at doing the thing or not. With that in mind here is a nice visual aid.

Why Writing Well is Hell

Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Let me start by just saying this: anyone can write. And in my personal opinion, everyone should write.

Obviously, it's a good idea to be able to update your own resume when you get fired for complaining about your boss on Facebook, or draft an angry drunken e-mail to your neighbor when they leave a passive aggressive message on your door. I'm speaking more of "composition", the art of conveying in written form something coherent: formed purely from nonsensical ideas in your head. Or perhaps relating a boring real life story in an entertaining fashion. I'm talkin' Writing with a capital ... read more

Introducing Odd Thoughts

Sunday, July 20, 2014

This is new. We're going to start up something different: more free content. Sometimes it'll be thoughts on the state of the industry of comics, video games, art, and literature. Sometimes it'll be poems, short stories, or little bits of design work. The plan is that we're going to put something out there as an outlet for the crazy things that are constantly attempting to crawl their way out of our brains. This is mostly going to be Nathan's soap box, to be fair: but he's the writer, so what did you expect?

Here we go!

Odd19 is now on Comixology!

Wednesday, December 18, 2013

It's finally here! We've been wanting to announce this for months but it kept getting pushed back. We're just happy to finally be able to offer Sin of Omniscience #1 on Comixology.

For those not familiar with it, the way that it works is you go through the individual panels using a guided process, and it's a great way to experience comics. The mobile app makes it especially interesting. We have to admit the way it works in the reader looks pretty great. The comic's colors are very vibrant so they look pretty great on a display, and the animated ... read more

Happy Thanksgiving, All!

Thursday, November 28, 2013

Thanksgiving is a day with confusing origins, and honestly the meaning has changed so much over the years it's completely irrelevant. The basic meaning has become what's important: family. You may love them and support them, but they don't always make your life easier.

Sometimes you don't get to choose your family, sometimes you do. Thanks for making us a part of your family, we couldn't be happier about it, and we hope we make your life a little better by reading the stories we create, even when they don't seem like the happiest tales. They are real and they capture ... read more

Odd19 is Moving to Seattle!

Sunday, August 25, 2013

We've been holding on to this news for awhile because we weren't sure if it was going to happen. Odd19 is officially moving to Seattle, WA!

Seattle, Washington Skyline

We've been debating this move for a long time, but now we have secured a good opportunity, so we'll be making our official move. We're not sure what this means for a lot of our incorporation or legal status, but we'll work on it one bit at a time and make sure it doesn't affect our comics.

That being said, we will have to change some of our con schedules. Pittsburgh is ... read more

New Limited Immunity Commission

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

Time is amazingly hard to keep. Danielle and I have traded a lot of old problems for new problems. Long ago we'd have the problem of lacking inspiration: fighting the blank page to create something new. Now, the problem is almost the exact opposite: we have way too many ideas, and we never have the time to execute all of them. They tell me it's a good problem to have, but it just makes me wish I could do all my work outside of the space-time continuum. If we figure it out, you'll be the first to know.

Limited Immunity Leam Commission

Tuesday, August 6, 2013

Ultimately, there are a lot of developments that happen on a given day, but I'm realizing now how complicated it becomes to keep all of the news about it updated. You have to squelch a lot of the boring news that people probably don't care about, but keep enough of the day to day stuff on the radar so people can keep up with you.

While we sort that all out, we have tons of other content at least, so that's something.

Limited Immunity Desktop Wallpapers

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

It is truly amazing how working on something that you love very quickly blurs the line between work and fun. Hours, days and months slip away. This makes it really hard to keep timelines in check, and sometimes you realize you've taken on more than you can possibly deal with in terms of sheer amount of work over a given amount of time to be done. This is incredibly awesome from an existential point of view. From the perspective of accountability, it sucks. Ultimately, it means you have to prioritize.

So for now, our focus is going to be on getting ... read more

Big Changes and Developments

Thursday, July 25, 2013

Hey everyone! So, we've been working really hard on a lot of projects, so naturally we haven't found a whole lot of time to brag about all the great things we're up to. That's hardly an excuse, so here comes the bragging.

Danielle's colors were featured in the SDCC Souvenir Book (on page 117, check it out!) and her coloring was feature on the Comics Alliance Best Art Ever Blog.

On top of that, we've been keeping a pretty good update schedule on our free webcomic, Limited Immunity. Unfortunately due to our schedules, we were unable to provide an update ... read more
